Crucell’s commitment to the world - Taking responsibility

Crucell’s mission to bring innovation to global health reflects a deep commitment to improving the lives of people worldwide. We see this as part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR)—a responsibility that underpins everything we do as a global organization and as individuals united by a common purpose.

For several years we have been working to develop our approach to CSR, with the goal of maximizing our contribution to society and minimizing our environmental impact. In our new Corporate Brochure we highlight our recent CSR steps we have taken on our journey and outline the road ahead.

 Good performance on CSR benchmarks:

  • Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI): In 2009, for the first time, Crucell was listed on the DJSI Europe index in recognition of the significant steps the Company took to define and develop its commitment to sustainability issues in 2008 and the years before. Continuing this development is one of Crucell's CSR ambitions for the years ahead. This year Crucell is, for the second time, included in the European DJSI index.
  • Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP): Crucell participated in the CDP in 2009. This project is a global, investor-driven initiative encouraging multinational corporations to report on their environmental impact.
  • Transparency Benchmark, Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs: Crucell’s overall score for transparent CSR reporting rose 17 points on this 100-point scale in 2009 compared to 2008. This placed Crucell in the top three companies in terms of rapid progress.
  • Global Reporting Initiative (GRI): Crucell’s ambition is to continuously improve our level of GRI compliance, from self-declared C level in 2009 to A level in 2015. The systematic approach to CSR introduced in 2009 lays the foundation for meeting this challenge.
